With its smooth and elegance surface, marble flooring is usually used on open space areas which builds up a sense of luxury. However, polished marble is slippery when wet and is not the best choice for kitchens and baths.

Marble is one of nature’s softer rocks and prone to scratching and staining, so in order to keep its beauty and to prolong its lifetime, it also requires careful maintenance.

According to The National Marble Institute, marble's porosity makes it susceptible to staining. Sealed stone will be more resistant to dirt and stains. Buff marble to remove minor scratches and imperfections.

Marble breaks easier than other natural stones. Take caution when moving heavy furniture. When clean the marble floor, using a non-abrasive pad and use a natural, light cleaner. In addition, since most marble is made of the same mineral, acidic substances like vinegar, alcoholic beverages, coffee, salad dressing or harsh cleaner can damage them and should be avoided. Use cleaners and polishes designed specifically for marble.
