Polished concrete floor refers to concrete that has been treated with a chemical
densifier and/or ground with fine grinding tools. The grinding
tools of choice are diamond
polishing pads and diamond
grinding plates. As the number of grit increases, the floor would
achieve the desired finish. Polished concrete is measured in grades and
finishes: the higher the grade, the larger the exposed aggregates; similarly,
the higher the finish, the shinier the polish. Using a series of diamond tools,
the concrete can be ground to 800, 1500 or 3000 grit level which the surface
can achieve the desired gloss and smoothness.
Polished concrete floor is widely popular
in the design of commercial buildings and house because it is easy to maintain.
Its smooth, hard surface makes it easy to clean, as well as durable and hard to
damage.
