Step 1 - Preparation
Remove everything from the terrazzo floor. This includes any carpet, furniture or debris present on the flooring. You can use a commercial paint stripper to help remove any paint, adhesive or glue. And then, clean the floor by dust mopping.
Step 2 - Grinding
Use a grinder with mental-bonded diamond pads to grind slowly on the surface until you have covered the entire floor. Then, use the vacuum to remove the muddy water and check your progress. The surface of terrazzo floor should visibly cleaner and more detailed. When you are satisfied, switch to the medium grit and make a pass, clean with the water and vacuum and repeat again with the fine grit. Use the angle grinder with diamond pads to get to tight areas.
Step 3 - Patching
If you have voids left by nails, screws or carpet then patch them thin-set mortar. Use a grinder to smooth the mortar once it is dry.
Step 4 - Polishing
Attach the 800 grit polishing pad to the buffer and work it into the terrazzo surface. Rinse the surface with water then suck it up with the vacuum. Then, repeat your entire work with the 1500 grit powder to 2000 grit. Towel dry and apply the sealer.
